Piedmont Pointe is a new series written by Scott Miesse. This story takes place in a retirement village in Florida, revolving around a group of misfits living in their own eccentric world. Some retired, some in their prime, they navigate the ups & downs of dating, growing older and following their dreams.
We moved forward with the concept of superimposing Floridian life and vegetation into a snow globe to emphasize the show’s irony and kitsch. I also wanted to showcase the isolated, stark world that is growing older. Its transparency, its glass-like preciousness, its readiness to be shaken. Using a toy within the key art felt like a good way to maintain the show’s innocence, while still showing a bit of dysfunction.
Snow globes always felt very Floridian to me, as well. Maybe because they are often a souvenir, something to remember from the past, or just a knickknack that older folks tend to have around their homes.
